  • The dates listed are the hatch dates. Chicks are typically available to pick up 3-4 days after the hatch date. We will contact you when your order is ready to be picked up.

  • All chicks have been sexed to be female, though gender selection is not a perfect science. The hatcheries we work with guarantee a 90% female rate on chicks.

  • Our chicks start with certified organic feed.

    Easter Eggers will give you an assortment of colored eggs from turquoise to dark blue to various shades of green and a few light brownish/pink eggs. They have a wide variety of feather colors, patterns, and a full beard under the beak.

    One of the best breeds for newcomers to chickens, and families with young children. Named for the English town where they were developed, Orpingtons come in several feather colors, but all are big quiet birds with fluffy feathers that keep them toasty warm during frigid weather.

    Plymouth Rocks are as beautiful and productive as they are easy to care for. In 1620 a travel-weary band of pilgrims set foot on Plymouth Rock. Years later an ideal backyard chicken breed was named in honor of this famous site. Few birds are as stunningly real as a Plymouth Rock strolling across a summer lawn. With a New England heritage, they do not let winter blizzards interrupt laying.

    The Sapphire Olive Egger is both easy on the eyes and the olive eggs are sure to be a great addition to your “eggscape” in your egg carton! This hybrid is a wonderful egg layer, and you cannot resist that tuft on their heads! These birds adapt well to different climates, especially warmer ones.

    A beloved breed that takes the best qualities from its parents, a Rhode Island Red rooster, and a Rhode Island White hen. The Cinnamon Queens are wonderful egg layers that will start laying at a younger age and produce large to extra-large brown eggs. They are also color sexable as chicks.

  • Black Jersey Giant $4.00

    In the late 1800s New Jersey breeders created a chicken designed to rival the meatiness of the turkeys back then. The massive Black Jersey Giant was the result of merging the genetics of several large breeds. Later the White Jersey Giant was created. They grow slowly but eventually are a third larger than most other heavy breeds. These birds are ideal for anyone wanting an impressive hen that lays about 240 extra-large eggs annually

  • Prairie Bluebell Egger $8.00

    The Prairie Bluebell Egger lays a novel blue egg but produces higher quality eggs than a pure Araucana. This breed was created by crossing Araucanas and White Leghorns, this creates a chicken that lays a large quantity of eggs that have blue shells. The Prairie Bluebell Egger is an active bird that is very good at foraging. They are lightweight and do not eat as much as larger breeds. Plumage color varies considerably among individuals, so you can count on having a great variety of beautiful color patterns.

  • Bielefelder $8.00

    The Bielefelder (Bie-le-fel-der) chicken is a German rare breed. It was created by Gerd Roth in the 1970’s using Amrocks (Barred Rocks), Malines, Rhode Island Reds and New Hampshire. It has gained the term the “Uber Chicken” due to it’s many desirable characteristics such as being a dual purpose bird and a auto-sexing breed. Male and female chicks look different directly after hatching. They are a prolific layer of large to extra large eggs. They have a very docile disposition and easy to tame, therefore they are very kid-friendly.

  • Black Australorp $4.00

    The Australorp is an Australian breed, was selected for its high egg production, and was developed primarily from Black Orpingtons that were exported from England in the 1890s to early 1900. Australian breeders selected large Black Orpingtons because of their efficient egg production and Orpington shape. The plumage is pure black with an intense beetle-green sheen that is breathtaking when seen in the sunlight.

    The Marans breed originates from a town called Marans, France. It is a very winter hardy breed with a docile temperament. They are more athletic and take to foraging and free ranging more often than other breeds. The French Copper Marans lay dark brown eggs.

    This perfect backyard chicken breed is named after India's Brahmaputra River. The breed probably came to the U.S. on 19th Century sailing ships, these Brahmas are enormous.     The “ancestors” of Golden Laced Wyandottes originated in Wisconsin and were called Winnebagoes. By 1880 they recieved their present-day name. They are great egg layers, quiet, easy to manage, and are of the most winter hardy of all breeds.

  • Mystic Onyx $4.00

    These birds were developed from Silkies by crossing with meat birds and selecting for size, and their dark skin and meat. They resemble a Svart Hona or Ayam Cemani in color but typically feature orange-red flares in their plumage, creating a beautiful contrast with their iridescent green plumage and mulberry or black combs, and the occasional tuft on their head. They do come in a variety of colors from orange to red to the more typical black with red flares.

  • Rhode Island Red $4.00

    Rhode Island may be America’s smallest state, but the breed developed there in the late 1800s made huge changes in chicken husbandry. The Rhode Island Red’s amazing ability to lay about 265 eggs a year made it famous worldwide and became the parent of several modern hybrid egg layers. These glossy mahogany-colored hens with black tail feathers are as beautiful as they are gentle and productive.

  • Speckled Sussex $5.00

    Speckled Sussex originated in England in AD 43, making them one of the oldest known breeds. The oldest and most common coloring is the speckled breed that has dark brown or mahogany-colored feathers and some black and blue feathers with white ends making the speckles show throughout their plumage. This bird is a very good layer and handles confinement well. Their speckled coloring makes them blend in with the background and camouflages them from predators such as coyotes and foxes. With each yearly molt more speckles appear so they become even more colorful the older they get.

    California Whites look almost exactly like the White Leghorns they were developed from but are slightly larger and have a few black spots on their white feathers. California Whites are quiet, calm and one of the best white egg layers for backyard flocks. They are a hardy chicken and will surpass the White Leghorn in laying ability and long longevity.

    The Starlight Green Egger is very similar to the Prairie Bluebell Egger. This breed was created by crossing the Prairie Bluebell Egger with a brown egg layer, the result is a chicken breed that lays high quantities of only green eggs. As with the Prairie Bluebell Egger, the Starlight Green Egger is a lightweight and very active breed that is an excellent forager in free-range situations. The plumage color is also highly variable and comes in many beautiful color patterns. If you are looking for a bird that consistently lays a green egg and will lay a lot of them, all while having a beautiful color pattern, then the Starlight Green Egger will be a great addition to your flock!

  • Midnight Majesty Marans $5.00

    The Midnight Majesty Marans have black plumage and most hatch with feathered feet, but some do not. Deep browns show up through their down feathering underneath, making them a mix of beautiful dark brown and black plumage. The males are barred. This breed will lay dark brown eggs and will lay a lot of them! You will truly enjoy this breed in your backyard flock and its dark eggs in your egg carton! These hybrids perform well in many different climates.

  • Cream Legbar $8.00

    The Cream Legbar chicken is a rare British autosexing breed. It was created by Reginald Crundall Punnett and Michael Pease in the early twentieth century at the Genetical Institue of Cambridge University. It was developed by cross-breeding the Gold Legbar with White Leghorn and creme-colored Araucanas chicken. The Araucanas introduced the dilute creme gene (‘inhibitor of gold’) as well as the crest and the blue eggs into the variety. It was standardized in 1958 but nearly died out in the 1970’s as blue eggs were not in demand. Chicks can be sexed upon hatching by the down color and the pattern they form. They are both cold and heat hardy bird with an active, very curious, and charming personality.

  • Hampbar $5.00

    Hampbars were originally developed in Canada in the 1950s to be an autosexing, dual-purpose breed. They were developed by crossing a Redbar into New Hampshires. Hampbars were beneficial over the other autosexing and dual-purpose breeds because of their light pin feathers which produced a cleaner carcass for the table. This is a very unique breed that is extremely rare.

  • Jubilee Orpington $16.00

    The Jubilee Orpington Chicken was introduced by William Cook’s family in 1897. It was created to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It was believed that they were a cross between a Spangled Old English Game, Dorkings, and Buff Orpingtons, though some believe that the Speckled Sussex could have had a strong influence on it. Their feather color pattern is very complex and can take up to 18 months to finish. They have a mahogany ground color with black spangles with white tips at the end. Their beak, legs, and feet are white. Earlobes, face, comb, and wattles are red and their eyes also.

  • Blue Cochin $6.00

    Brought from China by clipper ships in the 1800s, these large Asiatic chickens are covered with and abundance of soft feathers from head to toe. You can expect this breed to lay small or medium sized eggs.

  • Silkie Bantam Mix $5.00

    Silkies are named for their unique fluffy plumage, which feels like silk. They have several unusual qualities, such as black skin and bones, blue earlobes, and five toes on each foot (although not all of our silkies will hatch out with five toes). Calm and friendly and the most docile of poultry, they make an ideal pet. Hens are broody and make good mothers. Though they are fair layers themselves.
